Yascha Krüger, an unlucky-in-love forestry graduate, takes a temporary job in the Freising Forest. There he meets photographer Mats Stein, and the two quickly fall for each other. Yascha then discovers Mats has inherited a private forest that the state wants to buy for a national park. Torn between his job and his feelings, Yascha hides the truth and gets trapped in a growing web of lies.
